Thanks & Gratitude: Door Prizes, Summer Fun, & more

I’m thankful for parties at our local youth center. We attended an end of summer party last weekend at the youth center and it was a lot of fun. The kids had a chance to play some fun games, had a watermelon eating contest, they made ice cream in a bag, and even their own smores. Plus, we won some great door prizes. My niece won four tickets to see the local baseball team the Arkansas Travelers. While my daughter won a $10 Moe’s gift card and I won a $15 gift card for a drive-thru carwash.

I’m thankful for end of summer washout parties at the library. Last Friday, the local fire department blocked off a road near the library and hooked up a hose to the fire hydrant and sprayed water from high up on a ladder. It was like having a really big sprinkler party. All of the kids had a ball playing running up and down the street through the shower of the fire hose.

I’m thankful for that we don’t have very many school supplies to buy. Just crayons, glue sticks, and some paper is about all we need. However, we do have to buy new curriculum for the year, which I need to order ASAP 🙂

I’m thankful for modern convinces like dishwashers, washers, dryers, vacuums, and all the things that make cleaning up easier.

I’m thankful that I’ve exercised 6 days in a row. I have been inconsistent with exercise lately, but I’m trying to get back on track.

I’m thankful that Mary from Evolve with Mary challenged her readers to turn off their devices for 1-hour each day. I needed some motivation to use my devices less.

I’m thankful that Tamara from Tamara Camera Blog had a post this week with 5 tips to help you check items off your bucket list. It’s nice to be reminded that you not only need to dream it, but you need to visualize and speak on it.

I’m thankful for air-conditioning on 100 degree plus days.

I’m even more thankful for rain that cools down 100 degree plus day.

I’m thankful for my family 🙂

What are you thankful for this week?

Thank you for that shout-out!! I am so happy you liked my post.
As for the fire hose in the streets, that’s the stuff of summer dreams and memories. It makes me smile to see!
I haven’t been great with exercise this summer. I miss my alone time and I miss having cool breezes in the air. I will surely exercise a lot in Alaska, though! All that hiking.
I’m so thankful for my dishwasher too.. on these hot days.

      You’re welcome!!! I loved the post 🙂
The fire hose sprinkler party is something we look forward to at the end of Summer Reading Club.
I can’t wait to read about your trip to Alaska. I know you guys are going to have a blast. And I’m sure there will be lots of beautiful photos too.

That fire truck sprinkler party is so cool! My kids would absolutely love that, even my 22 year old ;). I’m jealous at your lack of school supplies to buy. I’m dreading taking my son this week and fighting the crowds for the outrageously specific list of stuff his school requires. To find the right colors, styles,… I end up going to at least 4 stores before it’s over.
Thanks for the inspiration to exercise. You are doing awesome. I can’t tell you the last time I made it 6 days in a row. I’m hoping to get back into some kind of movement when my son gets back in school. We have been so lazy this summer!

The sprinkler party is definitely something my kids look forward to at the end of the summer. And kids of all ages love it. Not having a lot of school supplies is good, but I have to buy a few new books so it makes up for the lack of spending on school supplies.
I took a break from exercising yesterday. So I have to make sure to do it today. Otherwise, it might turn into a whole week without exercise 🙂

Girl I’m thankful for ac too. The humidity is so high here sometimes because of all the lakes.

I didn’t realize it was really humid up there. It’s humid down here and you definitely don’t want to be with AC 🙂

The washout party looks like FUN! I wish we had AC, people feel like you don’t need it here (WA). I agree to a point, because it gets hot in the house and a bit humid, but never 100 degrees. However, this week it’s supposed to reach the 90s!! I don’t know what we’re going to do. SO, for that reason yes, AC would be awesome.
    Wishing you an awesome week!
    XO

Yeah… 90 degrees without AC is hard. Maybe, you can find some window fans. And if you have an attic fan those are really helpful.

Oooh, the washout party looks like so much fun! There’s nothing like water fun in the summer time! And we love Moe’s around here, too 🙂

I am too thankful for air conditioning because when ours was broken last year I didn’t think we would be able to beat the heat! But God!

I am also thankful for you— since you put me on to the 7 Day Salad challenge, I have converted everyone in my house to salad-eaters (well not just yet for Jj) and it has helped with healthier eating choices. Now I have to get on the consistent working out train 😉

The washout party was a lot of fun 🙂

Our AC went out four years ago and we had to go stay with my mom for a few days. I’m glad she lives close by because we would have been in bad shape in a house with no AC. Especially, since I’m scared of sleeping with the windows open.

I’m so happy to hear that your family is enjoying salads. My little people will occasionally eat a salad, but they haven’t got to the point where they enjoy a salad like I do 🙂 As far as working out I have good weeks and bad weeks (and sometimes really bad months). It’s easiest when you find something that you like and can do with your kids around.

I am also very thankful for air conditioning. I don’t know what I would do without it. The sprinkler party looks like lots of fun and a challenge to turn your device off for an hour sounds like a great idea.
