Disclosure: As a brand ambassador for Wild River Country I received free admission into the park and I am being compensated for this post. However, all opinions are 100% mine.
I’m so happy that summer break has finally arrived. This homeschool mama needs a break from the daily grind of homeschool lessons, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and art lessons. But I’m not the only one excited about our summer break. My kids are also excited to have more time for fun this summer.
Lucky for us, we don’t have to travel far to have fun this summer. Because Wild River Country, Arkansas’s largest water park that sits on 26 acres and includes 12 water slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river is less than 20 minutes away from our house. Meaning we don’t have to plan some far away, out of state trip to have fun this summer. We can just hop in the car and before my kids are bored enough to ask, “Are we there yet?,” we will have made it to Wild River Country in North Little Rock.
My family and I recently took the short drive to Wild River Country on a weekday afternoon for some family fun and we had a blast. We stayed at the park for about two and a half hours, which wasn’t nearly enough time to get to do all of the things that we wanted to do. But during our time there we enjoyed each of the attractions in the park that we were able to experience, the food, and the gift shop.
I love that there are so many attractions that our family enjoys at Wild River Country. Floating along the Lazy River was a hit with the whole family. The Lazy River is a super relaxing ride. If you love floating in calm water the Lazy River is the ride for you. I know I could spend all day floating along the Lazy River, but my kids like having a little bit more excitement.
And they found a bit more of a thrill in the Wave Pool. The Wave Pool is really fun because the water alternates between having waves and being calm. Every 10 minutes a buzzer goes off alerting swimmers that the waves are beginning. My kids enjoyed sitting in the shallow end of the pool and letting the waves splash over their legs. They also enjoyed kicking and splashing in the waves. I love that you can get the sensation of beach waves right here in Central Arkansas just by visiting Wild River Country.
After enjoying the Wave Pool our family sought out the slides. Like I mentioned before there are 12 different slides at Wild River Country. Some of the slides have height requirements of at least 48 inches. My six-year-old daughter is a few inches shy of 48 inches so I asked one of the lifeguards which slides she would be able to ride. He kindly pointed out the options available for kids less than 48 inches. But he also mentioned that the Sidewinder slide would be a good place to start.
My kids loved the Sidewinder so much that they slid down it several times. As soon as they would make it to the end of the slide, they would grab their tubes and head back up to get in line to go down the Sidewinder again. This slide gave just the right amount of thrill and excitement for my kids. This is a great slide to go down if you have smaller kids.
After all of our water play, my kids started to get hungry. Thankfully, Wild River Country has a variety of meal and snack options available throughout the park. You can order meals like burgers and chicken strips with a side of fries, and even pizzas. Or you can opt for snacks like ice cream, pretzels, cookies, and more.
My family went with chicken strips, fries, pizza, a cookie, and some ice cream. All of the food was tasty and filling.
I don’t know about other people’s kids, but my kids absolutely love gift shops. If we go somewhere that has a gift shop they want to go inside and to see what is available for sale. So of course, they asked to look around the gift shop at Wild River Country.
The gift shop is really nice. My kids were excited to see that the gift shop has toys. But I was delighted to see that the gift shop had so many swim related items like bathing suits, swimsuits, swim shoes, flip-flops, sunscreen, swim diapers, and so much more. Pretty much anything that you might need at a water park was sold in the gift shop. This is wonderful; because if you forget to pack something that you need you can simply head over to the gift shop to purchase it.
My family and I had fun, so much fun, at Wild River Country that we are looking forward to going back soon. This will be easy to do since it’s so close to our home. And this time we will be sure to arrive at the park earlier in the day so we have more time for fun. 🙂
If you are in Central Arkansas you should take the short drive to Wild River Country for a day of fun. And even if you live outside of Central Arkansas it is certainly worth the drive to visit Wild River Country.
