I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly trying to battle the clutter in my home. One source of clutter in my home is junk mail. I can’t keep up with the shredding for all of the junk mail that I get each week. No matter how many times I tell myself that I will start shredding my junk mail daily it never happens. Then I end up with a pile (actually it’s a small overflowing box) of unopened credit card offers, insurance offers, magazine offers, and other random offers.
Something has to give because I’m tired of the never ending battle of junk mail. Luckily, there are two easy ways to stop junk mail from being delivered to your mailbox. Just visit the following two websites to get started with stopping your junk mail.
DMAchoice.orgg allows you to stop junk mail that you don’t want to receive. You can elect to stop receiving catalogs, magazine offers, and other mail from various companies. You simply register with the website and then you can decide what offers yo want to opt out of. Once you opt out changes will go into effect between 30 and 90 days later.
Optoutprescreen.com allows you to stop receiving pre-approved credit card offers. You can opt to stop receiving credit card offers in the mail for the next five years. By filling out an electric form online at optoutprescreen.com. Or you can opt to permanently stop receiving credit card offers in the mail. To permanently stop receiving offers you must download and mail in the permanent election form found on optoutprescreen.com. However, if you change your mind about opting out you can always opt back in to start receiving credit card offers in the mail once again.
I choose to opt out of offers for 5 years and it only took about 2 minutes to enter in the requested information. It was really easy and I am so looking forward to not having to shred credit card offers for the next five years. Note: the website warned that opt is not immediate, it will have some time to stop receiving offers.
