Gratitude & Thanks: Plum Picking, Great-Grandparents, & More

I’m thankful that my kids have two great-grandparents that are alive and doing well.

I’m thankful that my kids got a chance to pick plums for the first time. We went to visit their great-grandfather earlier this week and some of the plums on his plum tree were ripe enough to pick. I’m glad they had a chance to experience plum picking. I remember being a kid and picking plums from my grandmother’s plum tree.ย I wish I had a chance to get pictures of them picking the plums, but I didn’t want to go back into the house to get my phone. Because I was afraidย they might be finished picking the plums before I got back out to the tree since there wasn’t a whole lot of ripe plums.

Yesterday my kiddos picked some plums while we were visiting their great-grandfather. #plums #countryliving

I’m thankful for the ABC app and being able to watch Black-ish with my husband. Black-ish is hilarious and it’s just more fun watching it together.

I’m thankful that I get to attend a blogger event next week called Farm2Home that promotes Arkansas agriculture. We will have the opportunity to meet local farmers and learn about the crops that they grow.

I’m thankful that my son is attempting to grow spinach in some buckets this year.

Gratitude Thankful

I’m thankful that Summer Reading Club at the library starts next week ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m thankful that my mom is enjoying the Shopkick app.ย She has been using it for about a month now and so far she has earned $15 in giftcards.ย The Shopkick app allows you to earn gift cardsย when you walk into retail and grocery stores. You also earn points from scanning items in the store. It’s a really easy way to earn gift cards for places like Target, Wal-Mart, Starbucks and more.

I’m thankful for clean water. I try to drink between 60 to 80 oz. of water every day and I’m thankful that it’s easy for me to get clean water out of my kitchen.

I’m thankful for easy opportunities to help others. I read a People magazine online article about Bill Gates’s mission to use chickens to help end poverty. The cool thing is that everyone can help out by taking a one question quiz and watching a video. When you answer the question right and watch a video Bill Gates will donate another flock of chickens to people living in poverty.

What are you thankful for this week?

They really enjoyed picking the plums off the tree.
I hope you guys grow lots of veggies this summer. I’m looking at my basil every day to see what changes have occurred. My cilantro actually already has tiny little leaves, so that’s pretty exciting. It’s cool to watch plants grow ๐Ÿ™‚
I love Shopkick! My husband and I also use it. It’s just a really easy way to earn gift cards.
I’m glad you are enjoying the Magic Lessons podcast ๐Ÿ™‚ After reading about Elizabeth’s trip to Italy in Eat Pray Love I want to go to Italy one day.

I have to say, I’ve never picked plums! How cool!
Up until the last few years, my kids had four great-grandparents alive at once! Although my grandfather passed away only two weeks after Des was born. That was so sad, but I like to think that they did share the earth at the same time – 100 years apart in age!

That’s pretty awesome that your kids had four great-grandparents alive at one time and that your grandfather lived to be 100 ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m glad you also love the Shopkick app. My husband and I are saving all our kicks to use for Christmas gifts ๐Ÿ™‚ I want to get some plum trees for our backyard one day when we get some of our other trees cut down.
Last year we used those buckets for our tomato plants, so I’m hoping they work out good for his spinach ๐Ÿ™‚
