Gratitude & Thanks: Family Time, Science Experiments, & More

I’m thankful for being able to spend time with my family.  Last night we went to Pirate Night at the library and it was a lot of fun for the whole family.

I’m thankful for Fall and cooler temperatures. Yesterday, we went to a walk while it was lightly raining.

Rainy day walk ?☔

I’m thankful that my son fearlessly tackles science experiments. He found how to make a DIY water filter in a Ruff Ruffman book that he checked out from the library. It was a really cool experiment and it there was a noticeable difference.  I think the water would have been clearer if he had used less yellow food color to make his water dirty. But there was very little dirt in the water.

I’m thankful that I’m almost finished painting my daughter’s room. It’s taken me a lot longer than I thought it would. I thought I could knock it out in a weekend, but I’m on week three. I only have to finish painting the trim and then I will be done. 🙂 I think I can paint the trim this weekend. (Ok…It’s Monday today and I still need to paint a second coat on the trim)

I’m thankful that Jello-O has new Simply Good line of puddings and jello without dyes. My kids have never eaten jello because of the dyes. So I was really happy to see there are jello options with dyes. I try to avoid buying foods with dyes so I’m always happy to see dye-free options (and my son just reminded me that I also like products with all natural vegetable dyes :)…because he is standing beside me reading this as I type it).

I’m thankful for trips to the zoo.

I’m thankful that the zoo put up fences to prevent falls into the primate exhibits. I’ve always been nervous viewing the primate exhibits because you always see kids climbing up on the rails and you don’t want anyone falling over into the exhibit.

I’m thankful that we survived our first family camping trip and enjoyed it a lot.

I’m thankful that my daughter is reading better. Now she is sitting in my lap and reading all the words she knows.

I’m thankful that this election is getting closer. I’m tired of the Donald. I truly hope that we have our first female president and that we can stop hearing about Donald Trump on a daily basis.

I’m thankful for having a kid vegetarian because he makes a lot of stuff. He loves pumpkin corn muffins, yogurt cup cakes, and spaghetti (he’s back :)…he wanted me to write the above, but I’m really thankful that he is such a sweet and helpful boy).

I’m thankful that I finished sewing our matching mother-daughter dresses. I just need to find time for us to take pictures in the dresses while we still have 80 plus degree weather.

I’m thankful that my kids are such good homeschool students most of the time. I started writing this on Friday morning, but when it was time to start working on lessons my kids told me to turn off the computer so we could get started. Now I’m finishing this post up on Monday morning.

What are you thankful for this week?

We’re going to the zoo this weekend! And I’m so happy to hear about JELL-O. That’s good news!

Des loves science experiments as well. And I think we got your temps. It’s supposed to be 82 here tomorrow!

I’m quite sick of the Donald as well..

I hope you guys have fun at the zoo this weekend.

I had not bought Jello in years because of the dyes. But I’m happy that I can buy it again now.

Today actually feels like fall here. Our high is in the upper 60’s today. So I’m going to go shopping and buy some fall clothes for my kids today.

I love taking longs walks in the rain, looks like you guys love it too. A Pirate party sounds like a fun time for all ages. That science experiment seems like a lot of fun; I would do that in my spare time to see how well a DIY water filter works. Painting is hard, I also underestimate how long it takes to paint anything, I’m happy you’re almost done. I haven’t been to the zoo in years; I should make a trip in the spring when the weather warms up.

My kids love it when it rains because they love wearing their rain boots and jumping in puddles. The Pirate party was a lot of fun. My son got so many prizes from playing the games over and over again. It’s nice to know that we know how to make a water filter if we ever have to. I’m happy to say that I finally finished painting my daughter’s room. Now I just need to make her some matching curtains.

I’m not a big fan of science projects, but they can be fun in how they challenge you to think outside the box. I’m sure he took pride in his work, even if the water was not drinkable. I’m thankful for my son and my daughter getting all As. Great post!

That’s great that your kids made all A’s. I understand about science experiments. I like it that they are great learning tools, but I dislike the mess they create sometimes.

So much to be grateful for! I’m glad Jell-o is making and option with less dye and it is so cool that your son is vegetarian.

My son LOVEs being a vegetarian. And he knows that he needs other ways of getting his protein too. So he drinks milk and eats beans.

And oh my goodness your babies are too cute. 🙂
I didn’t know that JELL-O!!! I’ll have to go pick some up.

I’m happy anytime companies improve their products and remove harmful ingredients. So I was really happy to see that Jello has a few dye free options.
