Gratitude & Thanks- Family, Blessings, and Discarding

grat & thanks

I’m thankful that I’m finally writing my first blog post on this domain. I purchased the domain a few months ago and it’s taken me a while to get started over here 🙂

I’m thankful that I got a chance to take a picture in the replica of the Oval Office at the Clinton Presidential Library. My family and I went there on President’s Day. Usually, they have the Oval Office roped off. You can see inside, but it’s usually only open for special groups and they only allow still frame photograph inside the replica of the Oval Office. However, on President’s Day it was open to everyone and you could even take photos with your cameras and phones. I had been wanting to take a photo at the desk for a long time, so I was really excited to be able to finally get one.

I’m thankful that I got a chance to take some pictures of my nephew for his high school graduation announcement cards. He is my oldest nephew and it’s hard to believe that he is about to turn 18 soon and graduate from high school.

I’m thankful that my kiddos love their cousins.

I’m thankful that I can always depend on my husband.

I’m thankful that it was 72 degrees in Central Arkansas yesterday. We took advantage of the weather and I took my kids to the park to ride their bikes.

I’m thankful that my kids had a great Valentine’s Day. They both wanted Don’t Let the Pigeon Finish this Activity Book for Valentine’s Day. So they were excited to get their book on Sunday morning.

I’m thankful that I treated myself to some sweet treats of Valentine’s Day. I made three blueberry muffins for breakfast and then I made myself four mini chocolate chip cookies for a snack. I really wanted to make myself a cake that LaKita from Simply Lakita blogged about a few weeks ago, but I knew it wouldn’t be wise to make myself a whole cake.

I’m thankful that I won a giveaway host by Nerline from Chic From Hair 2 Toe for a $50 giftcard for Nordstrom’s.

I’m thankful that I started reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I had been hearing a lot about this book and it is definitely a must read (especially if you have hoarder tendencies like myself…I keep way too much unnecessary stuff). I’m looking forward to starting the discarding phase this weekend. My husband and I have lived in our house since we got married. When we first moved it was pretty empty for a while, but now it seems like we have accumulated way too much stuff.

I’m thankful that I found a loaf of gluten-free egg-free bread at Whole Foods. I had been craving bread for a while, so it’s been nice eating sandwiches and toast.

I’m thankful for my health.

I’m thankful that my son officially has a big boy bed now. He is seven and we still had a toddler bed in his room (his feet were starting to hang off  the bed…shm). We had bought a bedroom set last year and never purchased a mattress for it. So we finally, bought a mattress and set up his bed this week. Now he is finally sleeping in his own room some nights.

I’m thankful that we were able to buy Mario Kart 8 bedding for his new bed. He is going through a Mario Bros. phase again so he wanted his room to be decorated with Mario Bros.

What are you thankful for this week?

I feel like starting over with my blog, but then I don’t.
I’ve been wanting to read The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up, but it’s not available at my library. 🙁
