Gratitude & Thanks: Birthday Fun, Good Food, & More

I’m thankful for birthday fun. I just turned 35 and I had a great time celebrating my birthday with my family.  My birthday celebration started with a date with my husband. We went to downtown Little Rock and walked along the Arkansas River Trail. I wanted to have a nice peaceful walk while looking at the river. And I knew my husband would enjoy catching Pokemon’s from a different part of the River Tail (there were actually a lot of people playing Pokemon Go along this part of the trail).

After our walked we walked to Soul Fish Cafe, a new restaurant in downtown Little Rock. I just happened to hear about this restaurant recently and I knew I wanted to go there to try their catfish. And I’m thankful that I did because it was delicious.

I had fried catfish with fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, pickled green tomatoes, and just one bite of the caramel pecan pie 🙂

My husband had a fried shrimp po’boy sandwich with fries and fried okra. Along with the caramel pecan pie with ice cream.

I’m thankful that my mom babysat our kids while we were on our date. The original plan was for them to spend the night but we picked them up at 11 pm. My son called and said he missed me. I was missing him too and I was more than happy to pick them up. 🙂

I’m thankful that my husband and kiddos decorated the kitchen for me with balloons on my birthday (I forgot to take pictures).

I’m thankful that my family went skating with a homeschool group and that we had a lot of fun. I had not skated in six years and I was proud of myself for not falling.

I’m thankful that I didn’t have to cook dinner last night. Because my mom had made a big pot of lentil soup and she had enough to share with us. It was delicious 🙂

I’m thankful for beautiful butterflies.

I’m thankful that my son always wants to try making new recipes. We made spring rolls for the first time last week.

I’m thankful that P. Allen Smith liked and commented on some of my Instagram photos. I had the chance to meet P. Allen Smith at his Moss Moutain Farm when I attended Farm2Home over the summer. His farm is such a nice place to visit and he was also a really nice guy.  If you have never heard of  P. Allen Smith, he is the host of three national home and garden television shows. I never catch his shows when they are live so I like to watch his home and gardening tips on his Youtube channel.

I’m thankful that we found Just Dance 2015 on clearance at Target for only $5.98.

I’m thankful for all of you who take time to read my posts 🙂

What are you thankful for this week?

I’m glad you got to start your birthday celebration in such a romantic way. You look so young and tiny. I thought you were in your late twenties. You must have good genes. Happy birthday!

Nerline, you just made my day by saying that I look like I am in my late 20’s. 🙂 I think it’s good genes, most people think that my mom is a lot younger than she is also.

Happy Birthday, My Love!!!! I’m so happy you and the hubby got to go on a date, what a wonderful way to celebrate 35 years on this earth. I’m obsessed with okra, shrimp po’boys, and pecan pie; we have so much in common 🙂 That lentil soup looks delicious; there is nothing like Moms home cooking 🙂 I’m planning on going skating with my sister sometime this week. It’s been awhile since I’ve put my skates on, but I’m always up for a challenge, and I don’t mind looking silly and falling. lol

Thanks Mary!!! 🙂 The one bite of the pie that I tried was really good and everything else was good too. I’m looking forward to going there again one day, but it will have to be another date. Because there was nothing on the menu that my son eats.
I agree there is nothing like Moms home cooking 🙂 I love it when my mom cooks too much food and shares it with us.
I hope you have fun skating, but I hope you don’t fall. 🙂

HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY!! We’re both 35. Well, for another week. 🙂
Your birthday sounds like F-U-N!! That food has me drooling over here.
I haven’t been skating in YEARS! I’m afraid I’d fall right on my buns.
Wishing you the best year, m’friend!!
    XOXO

I was scared I was going to fall while skating so I stuck to the wall the first few times we skated around the rink. I was also trying to help my son get used to his skates too. He got them a few months ago, but he has only put them on three times. He fell a few times but he still LOVED skating and can’t wait to go back next month. 🙂
