Gratitude & Thanks: Affirmations, Birthdays, & More

I’m thankful for affirmations. I’ve been starting my day by saying affirmations. For me, it’s been a good way to start out my day positively.

I’m thankful that we celebrated my mom’s birthday this week.

I’m thankful that my kids are healthy.

I’m thankful that my grandmother is physically strong at 84. Last week we went to her house to help her rake leaves and I thought she was going to out rake me. πŸ™‚

I’m thankful that I’m back to blogging. My kids and I got colds early in the month. Then with the election results, I felt like staying off the internet for a few days. Then I decided to declutter closets and just got distracted with other things. But I’m glad that I’m writing this post.

I’m thankful that Thanksgiving is next week. My son has been so excited about Thanksgiving this year. He has been planning the menu for months now. So it will be nice for us to get to cook everything that he wants on the menu.

I’m thankful that we are taking the week off from homeschooling next week.

I’m thankful we have enough rewards from different apps to pay for Christmas gifts this year.

I’m thankful for PBS and all of the great programming that is available on their station and app. Β I especially love all of the Henry Louis Gates documentaries and I was happy to see that he has a new one on PBS called Black America Since MLK and Still I Rise.

I also love A Chef’s Life on PBS for showcasing Southern food in such a real way. Each episode highlights a different ingredient and shows how people in the South have traditionally used the ingredient when cooking. Then usually chef Vivian will put a spin on that ingredient for a menu item in her restaurant. I would love to go to Kinston, North Carolina to eat at Vivan’s restaurant Chef and The Farm one day. Also. I can’t wait to get a chance to look through her cookbook.

What are you thankful for this week?

Positive Affirmations are changing my life too. I love the ones where I affirm that I am worthy enough to follow my dreams and desires. Thanks for the birthday wish for my mom. I hope that I look as good and I’m able to function as good as my grandmother does when I’m 84. Thanks for saying you missed me. It makes me feel good to know that. πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy A Chefs Life and Black America Since MLK.

I did notice you were absent for a few weeks! Makes perfect sense. Family sickness knocks me back too, whether I get their colds or not.
And the election results.. well… I get that too.
    Your grandmother is awesome!!

My grandma and my mom make me want to do more. They both tackle outdoor yard work without a problem. I’m so happy that they are great examples of women who aren’t afraid to work outdoors. πŸ™‚

I’m glad you’re back to blogging and you and the babies are feeling better. I was right there with you. The aftermath of the election had me down too, I tried to stay away from it all. I was sick last week. I’m playing catch up.
Happy belated birthday to you mom. And boy, oh boy, do you come from great genes!!
