Gratitude & Thanks: Spring Produce, Lessons on Stress & More

grat & thanks

I’m thankful that today is Friday ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m thankful the movie The Best Man is on Netflix. I plan on watching it tonight when my kiddos go to sleep.

I’m thankful that my kids are starting to feel better. They haven’t had any fevers for the past three days.

I’m thankful for Spring produce at the grocery store. Like strawberries being on sale and 99 cents a pound yellow squash and zucchini.

I’m thankful that I’m finally getting the hang of cornrowing my daughter’s hair. Now I can braid it once a week and not have to worry about combing it daily.

I’m thankful for an encouraging mother who is teaching me how to sew.

I’m thankful that the pillows I made turned out really nice.

I’m thankful that I read an article on stress yesterday on the website TheChalkboardMag. I loved that they defined stress this way:

Stress has many dimensions but is simply defined as the โ€œperception or experience of not being able to handle what life brings us,โ€ i.e. we believe that we donโ€™t have the resources โ€“ the energy, money, mood, etc.- ย to cope with whatโ€™s presented. Itโ€™s an attitude of overwhelm.ย

After reading this I’m now telling myself that I am capable of handling things that I think might be overwhelming. I tend to let life (being a mom, a homemaker, blogger) overwhelm me, but I am truly capable of handling all these roles. I just need to adjust my expectations. Because my mothering, homemaking, blogging isn’t ever going to be what is for some, but that’s ok. I’m still capable of being a good mom, homemaker, and blogger. I’m just doing it my way ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m thankful that my family can grow some of our own food. Our seeds are growing and we will be planting them outside soon.

I’m thankful for free magazines. If you like free magazines. Value Mags and Recycle Bank are great for getting free magazines.

I’m thankful for fun educational games on Instead of doing our regular lessons today we are going to play fun educational games, because I woke up with a runny nose today. So we are just going to make it an easy homeschooling day. We might even watch some Magic Schoolbus and Schoolhouse Rock today ๐Ÿ™‚

What are you thankful for this week?

I am so excited for our garden, and especially for strawberry season! I see them creeping up on sale at the market, so I suppose they are starting to be in season down south or out west. For us, it’s not until June, but worth the wait!
I had wanted to see The Best Man.

I would love to have a big strawberry garden like you guys. I tried to grow strawberries once, but the squirrels would always get to them before I would. I recently read that having a light netting helps out to protect them. So I may try growing them once again.
I hope you get a chance to watch The Best Man it’s a great movie.

I hope you were able to get some free magazines. I love hard form magazines too. I have a couple of free digital subscriptions too, but I never read them. It’s just not the same.
