Hey Everyone!!! It’s been such a long time since I’ve posted anything (about 10 months to be exact). But I wanted to share this cute eyelet summer top that I recently made using New Look 6511 view B. I love this pattern a lot, because it’s cute and really easy to sew.

This isn’t my first time making a shirt using New Look 6511. I’ve made two other shirts with this pattern. One is also using view B of this pattern. And I also made a shirt using view D. After three makes I think I might declare New Look 6511 my favorite pattern.

Why New Look 6511 is my Favorite

First of all this pattern is super easy to make. Any beginner can easily make this shirt without a problem. Especially view B, you only need three pattern pieces to make this shirt. The front, the back, and the peplum bottom. And you only need around one yard of fabric to make view B. Those are all wins in my book.

For this shirt I used an eyelet fabric that I purchased from Hobby Lobby last summer.

I also tried out a seam finishing technique on this shirt that I had been previously afraid to try. I’ve been seeing Sewists on Instagram showing off the inside of their garments. Admiring how nice the insides of their garments look after they have finished the seams using bias tape. Wishing that my own garments looked as good on the inside. But for some reason I thought this technique would be difficult to learn.

However, while watching Mimi G and Norris’s new show “He Sewed She Sewed” on bluprint I learned from Mimi G that it’s really easy to finish your seams with bias tape. After watching the episode I was able to try out this technique on my shirt. And I couldn’t be prouder to show off how nice the inside of my shirt looks.

I really love how this shirt turned out. And I may end up making another one before the summer is over. But first I have to finish the working on a jumpsuit I’m currently sewing.

P.S. Next time I post something I’ll remember to get pictures of the back. 🙂 I’m so rusty when it comes to posing for blog photos after my 10 month break….lol.
