Currently Loving

I’m currently loving the time of year. This year is moving right along and I’m happy that it’s June. I’m happy that the days are full of sunshine plus it’s nice and warm. I’m hoping that the temperatures continue to be in the 70’s and 80’s for a little while longer. I’m in no rush to see 90-degree weather.

Currently Reading

I’m currently reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I know this has been out for about 10 years, but I’m just now reading it. I saw the movie when it came out, but I never took the time to read it until now. LaKita from Simply LaKita recommended Elizabeth’s podcast Magic Lessons (which is a good podcast especially for writers) on her blog the other week which reminded me that I always wanted to read Eat, Pray, Love.

Currently Listening To

I’ve been listening to Beyonce’s Lemonade since it came out. Along with my usual old school music. I know that I’m officially old because I rarely listen to new artists these days. I have my favorites and I pretty much stick to listening to them.

I’m still listening to Joyce Meyer podcasts too. I listen to one of her podcasts almost every day. They are great little doses of knowledge.

Currently Watching

I just started watching Jane the Virgin last week and I love it. I watched season 1 on Netflix and now I can’t wait for season 2 to be added to Netflix.

Currently Obsessing Over

I’m currently obsessing over how much sugar my kids eat in a day. I watched a documentary about sugar on Netflix. Now I’m counting how many grams of added sugar my kids get each day. Two things with added sugar (yogurt, cookies, fruit snacks, popsicles) and they are pretty much at the limit.

Currently Working On

I’m currently working on sewing another dress for my daughter. It takes a lot more time to sew something than I imagined. Although my mom has been sewing stuff my whole life I never really paid attention to how much time it takes to make something. And since I’m a newbie I’m really slow 🙂

Pinning and cutting a pattern out by myself for the first time. I’m attempting to make another dress for my baby. ?#learningtosew #patterns #mccalls #sewing #dresses #mommylife #metime

I’m also painting a mail organizer/corkboard that I’ve had for years and never used. I’m painting it with blue chalk paint. It’s not a big job and it shouldn’t have taken more than a day, but I ran out of paint. So I need to go to the craft store this week and buy another jar of chalk paint so I can finish it up.

Currently Excited About

I’m currently excited about Summer Reading Club at our local library. Every year during the summer our library has lots of FREE fun activities available for kids. My kids are most looking forward to tye dying t-shirts and seeing the magic shows.

I also can’t wait for my basil to be ready in my garden. I love having fresh basil to make salad dressing and pesto.

I can always tell when Des has had too much sugar because he gets gassy! Poor kid. Sugar can be like that, though. And kids today eat much much more than we did as kids, which is sickening. It’s in everything!
I love Jane the Virgin! I won’t give any spoilers!

It is in everything. I hate that it’s in almost every pasta sauce and it’s not even just a little. It seems like a lot are more than 5 grams a serving.
I can’t wait to see Season 2 of Jane the Virgin. I want to know how soon does Jane get her baby back and what do Petra have planned?

The weather in Florida is already in the 90’s this past weekend my car said the temp was 101…I can’t already!!! Love Lemonade and Jane the Virgin too. I’ve been craving homemade pesto, but my home grown basil is not quite ready yet. Glad you enjoyed the podcast I suggested, thanks for the link in your post 🙂 and I saw that Eat, Pray, Love is celebrating its 10 year anniversary…I may have to re-read it again.

It’s going to be a while before my basil is ready too. I waited way too long before I planted my seeds this year. But every day I’m looking at my basil to see how much it has grown 🙂

One hundred degree weather is Spring is was too high. I hope you guys get a break sometime soon from the heat.

I am not ready for a 90-degre weather either. Eat, Pray, Love is a good book. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Your little girl is adorable.

I freak out about sugar, but I have a deep love for a few things with sugar. Okay, coffee doesn’t have sugar until I put it in, but I just can’t without it. I know it’s bad. I’m the lady who holds the box to her face and reads the ingredients that I think people get annoyed with at the grocery store. I’m also a bit of a hypocrite because as much as I try to eat healthy, organic, dye-free, etc… I’ll still pick up a bag of Sour Patch Kids.
Opened up the podcast and cannot wait to listen. 🙂
    Happy June!

I totally understand about sugar. I try not to get too anal about it with my kids. Last week I even bought some popsicles for my kids with dyes and HFCS. We usually go out for yogurt like once or twice a month and I know they get dyes and HFCS then, but I try to buy anything with those ingredients at the grocery store. So I try to find a balance between never allowing it and not over doing it 🙂

I love Jane the Virgin too! There’s always so much going on that keeps you guessing. And though I’m not ready for 90 degree weather, I know it’s soon to be here. I’ll take spring weather over summer weather any day lol.

I can’t wait to see your finished dress and mail organizer/corkboard! And I’m def gonna check out the Magic Lessons podcast you mentioned. Have you read Big Magic?

I love Joyce Meyer’s podcast too. I just got her Battlefield of the Mind devotional a couple of weeks ago and I’m loving it so far.

    Hope you’re enjoying your week!

Jane the Virgin does keep you guessing. I’m going to have to try to catch season 3 on TV this fall because I really enjoyed watching the first season. I’m just hoping that the second season is added to Netflix before Season 3 starts of tv.

I haven’t read Big Magic, but I want to. I have a few books checked out that I plan on reading after I finish Eat, Pray, Love and then I’m going to request Big Magic from the library.

I need to purchase one of her devotionals because I really enjoy her podcast. I just checked out her book Overload from the library, but I haven’t started it yet. It’s the next book on my list 🙂

I hope you are having a good weekend too 🙂

Thanks for the podcast for Elizabeth Gilbert, I’ll have to check it out. You are doing so good with the sewing, can’t wait to see how the dress turns out!
