Currently August 2016

Can you believe it’s already August and summer break is almost over? Since I had kids the months and years fly by. Probably because you stay super busy when you have little people to take care of. I actually started this post last week as a “Currently July” post, but I didn’t finish it so know it’s a “Currently August” post. 🙂

Currently Feeling

I’m feeling optimistic about life. There was a lot of craziness going in in the world a week weeks ago and I had a few days where I was concerned about the future of the world. But I’m feeling optimistic now. There are so many more good people in the world than bad. So I feel focus on the good and feel optimistic about the future.

Currently Preparing For

I’m currently preparing for another year of homeschooling my kiddos. I’ve been researching curriculum and different workbooks so I can decide what we will be using for the upcoming school year. Plus, I’m getting our homeschooling space organized. I bought a new bookshelf that I’m really excited about. Because when you homeschool you often have a lot of books everywhere and we were running out of shelf space.

Currently Listening To

I’ve found a lot of great podcasts recently that I am currently enjoying listening to. I really love Bevy Says, this podcast is all about empowering women to live unapologetically. I’m also listening to the Hashtags & Stilletos podcast that features interviews of women entrepreneurs.

Currently Watching

I’ve been watching a lot of Quantum Leap on Netflix lately. I’m not even a big fan of science-fiction, but this is the one sci-fi thing that I love.

I’m also watching Ballers on HBO with the Rock and John David Washington (Denzel Washington’s son).

Currently Creating

I was trying to sew a dress for my daughter, but it was a little too complicated for my beginner status. So, my mom has taken it to her house to finish it up for me. I successfully made the top, but the skirt portion was where I couldn’t figure it out based on the pattern instructions.

So, I started working on another sewing project. I’m actually making something for myself 🙂 I’m really excited to see how my dress turns out. So far I’ve sewn the bodice and the skirt portion, but I need to connect the two. Then add my zipper and lining and I’ll have a dress.

Currently Reading

I’m reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler. It was on a list of books that all women should read that I saw online. And it’s actually a really good read for women, plus it’s very funny. 51JeCzV8CoL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_

I’d love to read Amy Poehler’s book! I didn’t even know she had one.
As usual, your sewing projects are outstanding!
Currently, I’m watching the Netflix show “Stranger Things.” SO GOOD!

Amy Poehler’s book is a really good read. My husband wants to watch “Stranger Things”. We have both heard that it’s good. We are going to have to try to watch it together.

On the agenda for today is to find some shelves to use in my kitchen. Reading about the new shelf you have just solidified it for me!

I so want to learn to sew. I purchased a machine and it has sat for about a year because I can’t figure out how to thread the bobbin. I think I want my first projects to be sewing pillows for my living room.

I am currently getting back adjusted to the blog space and reading again since my kids have gone back to school.

Figuring out the bobbin is probably the hardest part about using a sewing machine. My mom showed me how to do it, but once the bobbin ran out I had completely forgot how to do it. She tried to walk me through it over the phone, but she had to end up coming over and showing me again. If you have a friend that sews you can ask them to help you. Or maybe even an older lady in you neighborhood that you are friendly with. You can also take a class a JoAnn, they sometimes have sales on the classes too. You just have to sign-up for the emails to know when they are running a deal on the classes.
Sewing pillows for my living room was my first sewing project. They were really easy and they look great. I still want to sew some curtains for most of the rooms in my house. We have had the same curtains since we moved here 12 years ago, so it’s time for a change.

I am currently doing laundry, working on turning a shirt into an off the shoulder top. Thanks for sharing your updates with us.

I have a few loads of laundry that I need to fold ASAP. It seems like as soon as I catch up on laundry there is always more of it to start the process all over. I hope you share on your blog the shirt that you are working on.

I’m currently getting back adjusted to my girls being back in school, and us back to a strict schedule.

We start homeschooling next week, so we will have to start getting adjusted to our new schedule soon too.
