Some of my fondest childhood memories are of me and my cousins spending time together. Growing up, I had lots of cousins on both sides of my family and I loved this. I loved my cool older cousins who would give me stuff like jewelry that they no longer wanted. My cousins who were around my age were great friends and playmates. When I was a kid we always had the best kickball games with our cousins that were around the same age as my brothers and I. And, my adorable little cousins were always fun to play with.
I’m happy that my own kids have cousins who they love being around. They have their cool teenage cousins who they adore and are always looking out for them whenever they are around. Then there are their cousins who are around their age that they have lots of fun playing games with. And then their baby cousins who they love being around because they can help take care of them like their older cousins do for them. No matter how old or young their cousins are, they love spending time with them and having a play date whenever they get a chance.
So, when my oldest nephew finished his first year of college and made it back home for the summer break last week, my kids were excited to spend some time hanging out with him. We invited him on a cousin play date. We decided that dinner at McDonald’s and playtime at the McDonald’s PlayPlace would be perfect for their cousin play date.
My kids were really excited. Reason #1 for their excitement, it had been awhile since they hung out with this cousin. Reason #2 for their excitement, Super Mario!!! My kids love playing all the different Super Mario games so they were thrilled to hear that McDonald Happy Meals are currently featuring Super Mario toys and that the milk jugs also feature their favorite Super Mario characters. They both ordered Happy Meals with Chicken McNuggets. They each had a choice of fries, Strawberry Low-fat Go-GURT, or Apple Slices for their side. My son opted for the small fries, while my daughter chose the Strawberry Low-Fat Go-GURT which also comes with a smaller order of fries as her side.
Of course, both of my kids had to open up their Super Mario toy before they started eating their food. But they were too excited to try out their Yoshi toy. They loved that the Yoshi toy has a tongue that they can stick out, which is just like Yoshi on the video games. 🙂
My nephew and husband both chose to try out one of the new Signature Crafted Sandwiches and fries. My nephew went with the Maple Bacon Dijon sandwich and my husband got the Pico Guacamole sandwich. They both really enjoyed their Signature Crafted Sandwiches.
Luckily, we had two of McDonald’s new FRORKS and they were each able to try it out. And they both agreed they were uselessly useful. #uselesslyuseful
I ordered a Southwest Salad with no meat. I really enjoyed the Southwest Salad because it is spicy and very flavorful.
My kids could barely eat their food because of the anticipation of playing in the PlayPlace. They really love playing the basketball game and McDonald’s inspired foosball game at our local McDonald’s PlayPlace. And having their big cousin there to play with them made it even better. The three of them had a great time playing basketball and foosball on their cousin play date.
To find your nearest McDonald’s with a PlayPlace use the McDonald’s locator on the website and be sure to check the Play Place option.
